DESERT ISLAND - A PLAY - 2014
This work lingers in its various phases of production: pre-production (the script), production (the set) and post-production (the sound).
The script is a composite of both fictional and factual desert island narratives, collaging existing texts and documents into a 6-act play featuring a single castaway. The play is founded on the recurrent elements of these borrowed narratives.
The audio is appropriated from the film Castaway (2000), excluding dialogue and only using the sounds of subtle human interaction with the desert island environment.
The Play includes text and story plots borrowed from the following desert island narratives:
The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne,
Godfrey Morgan,: A California Mystery by Jules Verne
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The Tempest by William Shakespeare,
The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
